“Secret Invasion” is a comic book crossover storyline that ran through a self-titled eight issue limited series and several titles published by Marvel Comics from April through December 2008. The story involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the alien Skrulls. Capable of shapeshifting, the Skrulls have secretly replaced many of Marvel’s heroes with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion.

“Civil War” is a 2006-2007 Marvel Comics crossover event storyline built around a self titled seven-issue limited series written by Mark Millar, and penciled by Steve McNiven and which ran through various other titles published by Marvel at the time. The storyline builds upon the events that developed in previous Marvel crossovers, particularly “Avengers Disassembled”, “House of M”, “Decimation”, and Secret War.

Dark Reign – Part 2

Dark Reign
Following the events of the 2008 storyline “Secret Invasion”, Norman Osborn resigns as Director of Thunderbolts and disbands the team. Immediately afterward Osborn meets with the President and is given complete control of a new world peace-keeping organization, “H.A.M.M.E.R.” (as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s viability had been deemed compromised by the massive Skrull infiltration). Tony Stark is removed as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., due to his inability to stop the Skrulls and his unwillingness to give up the list of secret identities of every registered SHRA member.

Dark Reign – Part 1

Dark Reign is a American comic book storyline that began in December 2008. Published by Marvel Comics, it deals with the aftermath of the Secret Invasion limited series, which led to a shift of power in the Marvel Universe toward Norman Osborn. “Dark Reign” refers to Osborn’s rise to global power and the ramifications of the changes across the Marvel Universe.Joe Quesada, editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, stated that Dark Reign is not really “an event; it’s what happening in the Marvel Universe”. He believes that “Dark Reign leads to an interesting place in the Marvel Universe. I think you’ll see a pulling back at the end of Dark Reign, but you’ll understand at the end of it what we were trying to get to.”
